I learnt "you shall have a fishy on a little dishy" when I was a small boy. I only learnt much later that it's actually a poignant northern fishing song sung by an anxious young wife waiting for her man to come home from the dangerous North Sea, and it's been bowdlerised in southern playgrounds.
The actual lyrics are:
Thou shalt have a fish and thou shalt have a fin
Thou shalt have a codling when the boat comes in
Thou shalt have a haddock baked in a pan
Dance to your Daddy my little man
When thou art a man and come to take a wife
Thou shalt wed a lass and love her all thy life
She shall be thy lass and thou shalt be her man
Dance to your Daddy my little man.
As it happens (or 'appen). To be sung in a rich northern accent (when tha boat comms in).
