# Wow!
Thanks.
People have told me stuff like that before but I really suffer from a lack of self confidence which is why i've only half tried doing stuff.
I have no Idea how to get involved propely, I would love to do animation and stuff like that.

# go to uni
get a degree, spend three years tossing it off

send your stuff EVERYWHERE

build a web site, promote, promote, promote

# Yeah exactly.
Except the degree part, it might help make you better but I doubt it's help you sell.

Volume of work and especially VOLUME of sending out letters with low low quotes.

# true
but it's 3 more years without having to work

# Oh indeed
I don't doubt that Uni is a good idea, it's a fantastic idea. Go, if you haven't already been, screw doing animations for the TV, go party for three years. Definately worth every moment.

Just don't expect it to help you unless it has a "How to sell your stuff" course that takes most of your time.

If you wanna actually get anywhere, something like Business Studies or Economics is probably more worthwhile for marketting yourself.

# Sadly
Its too late for Uni for me but I am working on my web site.

# If I were any good
Then what I'd do is make a five minute or so pilot in Flash and
send a URL, along with an extremely low quote, to Cartoon Network
or Paramount Comedy or MTV or one of those other tiny channels.

I figure you make one then start upping the price.

# You could try
starting with somewhere like Atom Films.

They love short, serialised animations.

# Thats a good idea.
I wonder if they take gif's?
(, Wed 5 Jun 2002, 22:17, archived)
# Heh
The lucky thing about .gif's is if you email 'em right they have no choice but to see it,
at least in Outlook or whatever.
