The problem I think was the inability of Mango's server to process the requests quickly enough. What with 300 or so lurkers mashing F5. I have a 2mb DSL and it was still taking 2 mins to load the page until we broke the server /blush

but it's the time it takes for the server to respond, and when everyone starts using the same server it slows the board down.
