# In the pub i work in
theres a fairly common occurence (or was under the previous owners, its stopped now its under new ownership unfortunately.) The pub itself dates from 1437 in areas and is quite an old building, built onto and outwards as and when required, its a weird mix of georgian, tudor and whomever reigned ages ago. the ghost in question (one of a few might i add) was the great grandfather of the tennant at the time, his name was robert jackson and was the first member of the family to own it before they started passing it down as they died. he built a brand new bar on the back of the building. anyway, the chap in question still popped in on occasion, either prior to the pubs opening, whilst open during quiet periods. i've never encountered him personally but i'd often end up having co-workers asking me about the guy who they were just speaking to, as he just seemed to leave as they were looking away, but still talking. it was always then i took them upstairs to a publically closed area (and one most of them had seldom seen) asking them to describe the chap on the way. upon seeing the turn of the century photo of the guy, they normally spazzed out, turned white as a sheet and spent the rest of the day off sick. but, oh my was it funny!

# the george & dragon in epping high street used to be an old tavern
practically unchanged since the place was built (except for the addition of electricity, and some new beer lines).

There was a permanant cold spot in front of the fireplace, even if the fire was roaring away, it was always referred to as "george's seat", as some old guy who was a regular for years always sat there, day in, day out, even after he kicked the proverbial bucket

unfortunantly, the pub got refurbished about 7 years ago, and "george" left. i dont think he agreed with the decor, or the fact that the new owners gutted the place, and knocked down every non loadbearing wall, and turned it into a trendy winebar
