I had 2000 installed for a very short time, and I got those damn messenger service boxes (Turned them off of course) and Trojans galore in through the back door.

what's more, Win98 is not effected by MsBlast. Heh!

# messenger things are a stupid service left on my m$ but a piece of piss to turn off really.
for security I'd go for 2k or XP (me at a stretch) as they are still being maintained by M$
