# The TAB key is your friend.
No, seriously..... Have you diasbled it in control panel or device manager or BIOS or what?

Help me out here.
I assume you are using Windows

Edit2: Oh yes, you said windows didn't you. DOH!
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 3:54, archived)
# hehehehehe
sorry. I should laugh....

I don't remember, though I avoided using the mouse as much as possible...
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 3:54, archived)
# seriously though..
can you help me at all?
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 3:55, archived)
# it's probably in the control panel though
which if you can manage to get to here, you can probably figure out
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 3:56, archived)
# Control panel
CTRL-Esc (Bring up start menu)
cursor up, up, up etc.. to settings
cursor right "Control panel" - press enter

Type "MOU" - enter

Mouse settings.

# if you don't have a windows key
that'll work too
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 3:58, archived)
# Yeah,
If you have a windows key, use that instead of CTRL-Esc. I just said it like that because 99.864% of keyboards DO have CTRL & Esc keys.
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:01, archived)
# hehehehe :)
not true, but I'll let you off :)
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:02, archived)
# yeah
but most keyboards have had windows keys for the last what? 7-8 years?
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:03, archived)
# Windows keys
are one of the most fucking anoying things ever
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:05, archived)
# i agree
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:06, archived)
# Awful when
you are playing Doom and you just get to the cyber boss, you are fully loaded with rockets, you get in position.... choose your moment.... STRAFE!! and hit the windows key by mistake.

Up pops your desktop and you know that you are dead when you get back in.

Bah!
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:08, archived)
# exactly
and you can always press ctrl and esc - why do you need a new fucking button

window's button - arse faced git's button I call it

of course no one understands what I mean when I do
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:11, archived)
# I think I know what you mean
Hey, your post was almost a "/rant"
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:14, archived)
# I never / my rants
because then I'd have to stop or reopen the tags
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:17, archived)
# Some peeps like
old hardware. My last keyboard (1 year ago) didn't have one, but the keys made wonderfully low clicking sounds when you pressed them and I nearly creamed every time I typed.
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:06, archived)
# you need
your keyboard, the windows key, tab, arrow buttons and space. then do what you did to break it.

either that, or shut down, unplug the mouse, reboot, shut down, plug the mouse back in and start up again, if you're lucky, it'll reinstall the drivers
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 3:55, archived)
# and if any explosions occur..
i can blame you...?
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 3:56, archived)
# not really
you use my advice at your own risk, and think yourself lucky i'm kind enough to help after you fucked up.
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 3:57, archived)
# nothing will explode
I don't remember if 98 was dumbed down enough to install things like that automatically though
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 3:57, archived)
# USB nearly worked in
98se
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 3:58, archived)
# hehehe
a lot of things nearly worked in 98se. unfortunatly, not much actually did ;-)
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 3:59, archived)
# all I remember is that usb didn't work at all in NT
I knew people who had to program an entire driver for it for their senior design project, poor guys
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:00, archived)
# ouch
and yep, sounds right
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:01, archived)
# I use 98SE
and it's lovely. Have a USB hub with scanner, digicam, Printer and webcam in it. 100% working.

I love 98SE.
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:03, archived)
# I've thought about going back
because I have programs i want to run that don't work with xp. It would also run a lot faster without xps footprint. I just can't be bothered and I'm afraid other stuff would stop working.
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:05, archived)
# I went back
it was horrible
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:06, archived)
# yeah
if anything, it might be better to go to win2k, or *nix
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:09, archived)
# 2k is nice
but patching it is an arse and it boots slowely
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:10, archived)
# yeah
i reboot about once every 3 months anyway.
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:11, archived)
# God I hated 2000
and xp for that matter.

I'll stick with this
It's all personal preference you know. There's no "right and wrong" oppo system.
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:10, archived)
# yeah
indeed, but security wise i'd stay 2k and fresher.

(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:12, archived)
# Security? SECURITY?
I had 2000 installed for a very short time, and I got those damn messenger service boxes (Turned them off of course) and Trojans galore in through the back door.

what's more, Win98 is not effected by MsBlast. Heh!
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:17, archived)
# messenger things are a stupid service left on my m$ but a piece of piss to turn off really.
for security I'd go for 2k or XP (me at a stretch) as they are still being maintained by M$
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:19, archived)
# heh
maybe you should've been running a firewall?

(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:19, archived)
# yeah yeah
you've been downloading porn.exe haven't you?...
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 6:17, archived)
# it worked...
thanks..i love you...

well, no i don't, as i'm a guy..and so are you
erase love and replace with "am proud to know"
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 3:58, archived)
# i am proud to you?
that doesn't make sense
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 3:59, archived)
# i edited it so nyahnyah nyah nyah nyahhhh

(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:00, archived)
# hehehehe

And I am not. :(
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:04, archived)
# could be
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 4:07, archived)
# hmmmmm
that is silly

edit:
that's not much help - sorry I don't remember 98 well enough

if it is usb try swapping it into another usb port
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 3:55, archived)
# I think you can do it like this....

CTRL+ESC (for Start-menu)
Settings - Control Pannel - Mouse
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 3:56, archived)
# I suggest.....
.. basting your mouse in......
1/2 cup apricot jam
1/4 cup dried apricot, chopped
1/4 cup white wine
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

... Let me know if this works.....
(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 3:58, archived)
# don't forget

(, Sun 9 Nov 2003, 3:59, archived)
# Oh yes.......
