# one of two reasons in my eyes then:
1. your modem is having a problem with the port bittorrent uses to access the net. find out (using google for example) what port your bittorrent prog uses, check its allowed access via any firewall you have running e.t.c
2. your ISP is monitoring connections and blocking file sharing, including bittorrent. this would explain why it would download so far then pack in, as your connection would be refused, requiring you to reboot.

# 2. seems most likely to me
you could try using a client which allows you to choose which port you use for bittorrent traffic to try and eliminate both problems
