# well if you formatted the drive
then you must have installed a fresh copy of xp
and if it's fresh, then it still has the security hole dont it

read this
www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc1831.html
and this
securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.html

download everything you need to fix it, unplug your modem and don't reconnect until you sorted it

# nothing wrong with XP
in fact it's a pretty decent OS.

and I'm sure you'd agree with me if it wasn't made by microsoft.

# RPC is unrelated to Cut and Paste
Any application using cut and paste is using real and virtual memory.
RPC is the remote procedure call service - in effect, part of facilitating external access to other boxes on your network.

Formatting a hard drive will do nothing but put you back to scratch. Just patch against the virus thoroughly and leave the hard drive alone.

your problem may be resource related - low memory, or for all I know a broken Ctrl key! :)
