it's the hindu symbol of light (that way round), the nazis corrupted it.

The Nazi one does indeed go the other way. They turned it backwards, which makes it mean the opposite. Whether this was deliberate or not is open for debate.

The Nazis used both orientations, both of equal meaning. I don't know why they chose the swastika symbol in the first place. Nazi mysticism was a bit strange.
