ok, so I go to download the thing, and it just downloads the file instead of installing it as an extension...so how to i get it to install?

and this extension DOESNT work with firefox 0.9 i just get an annoying error at the bottom of the screen

and not something like 0.9 RC
Go to help and about, down the bottom it should say something like

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040614 Firefox/0.9

and not something like Firefox/0.8.0+

you make a point - although i have downloaded 0.9, it's called 'Firefox/0.8 StumbleUpon/1.906'

stumblupon is some crappy extension that wouldnt uninstall - and i cant uninstall FF0.8 so i just installed .9 over the top. and thats obviously what you don't want to do!
