Well there we are, and thank you for sharing that... and I see supermoore's grudging nod of acknowledgement to them, and I'm almost tempted to second it, as their explanation of the tag removal sounds resonable enough... but you know, it would have been very easy for them to follow up on the tag and talk to you, and it would be obvious to anyone seeing your site that you created the image in question. I think their actual policy is to steal as they see fit and react if challenged, and I think that's an underhand and shoddy way to conduct a multi-million-pound enterprise. And I still wonder what would happen if someone tried to buy rights to the image from them.

I hate my own negativity here, since you've definitely won some concessions from them, but I do feel that they've thrown you a bone, and that they've no intention of changing their general policy regarding web-procured images at all. But all power to you for challenging them and getting a result...

You know, this really wouldn't bother me nearly as much if I wasn't so incredibly fond of your work and if I didn't have such respect and affection for you, and I'm sure that's true of lots of other peoples' reaction too :)
