I assume they are good quality across the board, so cheaper ones aren't crapper, just smaller(?)

are crap, you get what you pay for.
the intuos are the top top range and are awesome, the graphire are mid range and are good for most people and the volita are pure wank, don't even touch them. there is a reason they are £35

Theres a steady stream of Intuos tablets - given a bit of patience its possible to find a decent second-hand one. I got an original Intuos with an A5 active area... Works good!
