[challenge entry] i was late to work because...
liverpool city 'centre' isn't in the middle of the 'town' and therefore i have further to travel than people who live in round towns (such as manchester and london).

# What do you mean by the town?
Most of Liverpool is in there, offices and so on. Where were you trying to get to? (That is, if this wasn't just an excuse to enter the B3TA competition)

# well he's
wacked that dot for the centre somewhere near Kensington or Old Swan and that would be cack as a town centre.
(, Tue 10 Dec 2002, 16:27, archived)
# Old Swan
is the biggest dump I have ever been in. I didn't even go to Kensington 'cos apparently you get scallies throwing rocks

# too true
even the bus drivers dont like stopping there.

# Steven Gerrard
Is from Kenny. And that Wayne Rooney who plays for Everton is from Toxteth. Two individuals who would definitely be nicking hubcaps if they weren't playing football

# I keep getting called "Stockey from Tockey"
It does mean I get no trouble walking through town on a saturday night. I think they think I'm a doorman.

# steven gerrard is from
the Bluebell in Huyton, not Kenny!! and i'm certain, before you ask. he used to play for Whiston Juniors.

# and i've found this to back me up

Is from Croxteth not Toxteth

# Plus
There's nothing to stop them from continuing to nick hubcaps.

# The joy of Kenny
I will not live there.
Woolton Village - larvely. I'd so like to live there.

# old swan
now has a brand spanking new 24hr tesco which is really rather nice :)

# the one in Prescot
is muchos nicer!

# they've
turned the tesco metro in the city centre back into a normal hours one instead of a 24hr one :O(

# what i'm trying to say is...
that if i live at point C, and I have to get to the city centre (the black splodge), it takes further (on the orange line), than if they were to re-locate the city centre to the actual / physical middle of the city (the pink splodge) ... the green line is shorter. see diagram below...

# yes but
the funny thing about PORTS is that they do best near the SEA. Do you see?
(, Tue 10 Dec 2002, 16:42, archived)
# I dunno,
have you any proof of inland ports that failed? Ergo they must be 100% succesful!!!
[edit] I'm now thinking of doing my dissertation on inland ports being 100% succesful as no-one can prove me wrong
(, Tue 10 Dec 2002, 16:45, archived)
# Manchester
was a very very succesful inland port for 70 years

# good thinking!
definetly a third year of pissing it up in Manchester, Liverpool and other places such as Newcastle and Bristol on the cards.
(, Tue 10 Dec 2002, 16:53, archived)
# yes but
nobody actually uses them anymore, it's not like the 1000's of people who work in offices / shops etc in the black dot, couldn't do there job perfectly well if they were situated at the pink dot, which is closer to their home. :)
(, Tue 10 Dec 2002, 16:51, archived)
# I'm guessing
it wouldn't be easy to convince everyone that they should re-locate their offices to the pink dot!
(, Tue 10 Dec 2002, 16:55, archived)
# ah but...
if it meant everybody had less distance to travel, thus saving money day after day... they might want to :)

# I thought
L'pool city centre was the only bit that got called 'town'. That big black blob is right on top of my house by the way!

# I work over the road
from my house. Except after crimbo I'm moving to Rainhill for a bit. Bugger.

# I work over the river
from mine!
(, Tue 10 Dec 2002, 16:32, archived)
# how did you
get planning permission for a blob that size!!!
[edit]where are you moving from to Rainhill as its not that bad
unless you're somewhere wicked already, at least you dont have to
give your pets self defence classes to see them again at night.

# I didn't
my landlord had it installed before I moved in. It was very handy for finding my way there before I moved in.
