
then draw paths over it - they can do curves.
trace the entire shape with paths. this takes a bit of time.
then there's a button called something like 'set path as selection'
do that and fill.
EDIT: There's an auto path option somewhere in photoshop. This will work and be quicker, but not produce as good results as hand-tracing.

I've never used paths, so this'll be a learning experience.

Photoshop doesn't seem to have the brains not to introduce grey pixels between the black and white ones.

. . . are you saying I have to hand trace a smooth, regular curve? I think you overestimate the power of my hand/mouse combo.
