Psychological revenge is the sweetest kind...I could hit him, yeah, but then it would be over. I'd rather ruin his self-confidence and force him to change careers after he's spent all that money.

Ok, go with this as long as you're sure that he won't just brush it off.But I'd have a plan B just in case. Preferably involving the pulling of his asshairs with pliers while you explain the virtues of being civilized.
