Most of the 5,000 British kids waiting to be adopted are older, and most adoptive parents want a baby.

Although not many people here adopt from abroad, only around 300 a year.

[edit] And there's nothing inherently wrong with interracial adoption - most adopted kids now know they are adopted from a young age whether they're the same colour as their parents or not.

My parents have done relief work in Malawi. The kids at the school thought it was hilarious to see white people riding a bike - they just assumed we were all driven everywhere.

(I wouldn't be surprised if they'd all heard of Madonna though. And Manchester United. Honestly).

In a years time, the parents would come along and say they want the child back.

Madge would then have to start again.

She is obviously a good mother, perhaps she doesn't want/can't have another natural child, and wants to adopt a child less fortunate.

Fucking Do-gooders around the world pissing it up for the people who genuinely want to make a difference.
