I was talking to someone the other night about it and aparently Jolie and Madonna are good friends so it may not have been just a "monkey see, monkey do".

I love the way the country it bending over backwards for her though. You want babies? Have ten! Adoption laws? Forget about it, its cool

Jolie was probably first, the main problem is that Madge can have kids, why adopt. It caused an outrage in Malawi, but does she give a fuvk, no, as long as she can go one up on the rest, thats fine. Its a bit Annie really, with a dumb dog following her (ritchie) who gets fed by the media. Hardly discreet. If she really wants to help starving kids, she can start with boycotting Nestle instead of engaging in purile publicity stunts as this.

Most of the 5,000 British kids waiting to be adopted are older, and most adoptive parents want a baby.

Although not many people here adopt from abroad, only around 300 a year.

[edit] And there's nothing inherently wrong with interracial adoption - most adopted kids now know they are adopted from a young age whether they're the same colour as their parents or not.

My parents have done relief work in Malawi. The kids at the school thought it was hilarious to see white people riding a bike - they just assumed we were all driven everywhere.

(I wouldn't be surprised if they'd all heard of Madonna though. And Manchester United. Honestly).

She is obviously a good mother, perhaps she doesn't want/can't have another natural child, and wants to adopt a child less fortunate.
