here goes:
image ready comes bundled with photoshop. you can get photoshop dodgeois (as the french would say) from a number of sources on the web. Maybe try Kazaa? (I don't use it myself- anyone want to confirm or deny that's worth a shot)?
Websites are made in html. People use all sorts of things to edit it. I use dreamweaver, real html people use notepad. Really 'good' websites usually require much more complex technologies such as databases, scripting etc- you don't want to worry about that stuff if you're starting out.
For flash, the usual tool is macromedia flash, though there are others I haven't used them so can't comment on whether they're any good.
4 is the same answer to 3, but I'd be inclined to recommend using flash only for blobs of content rather than for site design, but there are people who'd disagree with me there (big, ongoing argument that may never end)
A swf file is a compressed, web-deliverable flash file. it is the flash you see on the internet.
drinking beer is natural and should not be thought of as a problem. you are probably making unrealistic demands of yourself.
Hope that helps. If anyone wants to add to or ammend any of those answers please feel free

I use notepad! Does that mean I'm a real html person? Am I l33t? Does not having a webpage make any difference? Have you ever tried kahlua and coke? it's great.

you are l33k indeed.
even a basic .txt page hand-coded beats a fancy dhtml site made in frontpage or suchlike in terms of raw skill.
you may now refer to everyone else as "lamerz" and say "i 0wnz j00" a lot

I will settle for l33k. lol.
I started doing HTML stuff in '94 using "edit" & the Mosaic browser. (ah, Nostagia)
By the time these new fangled editors came around, the raw html habbit was too hard to break.
Makes me sound old. Bluddy hell, I'm only 25.
