and a mate offered a cracked version, but gimp has so far offered me everything ive needed/wanted, so i see no point in changing

I think you can still get older versions for free from the website. The first one I used was a freebee from one of those PC mags (PC Pro I think).

PSP seems to do everything you need except animation.

# PSP9 comes with Animation Shop
still one of the simplest and most effective Gif animation packages about. Not sure why they ditched it for the later versions. But you can still buy it seperately from the Corel website.
