# as someone from leicester who lives near the parents who made them ban this game
can i say i'm so sorry for this family's behavoir?

What next? Ban books?

# I think they went way too far with this one
Are you aware of the content and the control system?
(, Thu 21 Jun 2007, 19:51, archived)
# no, is it good?
(, Thu 21 Jun 2007, 19:52, archived)
# If you aren't aware of its content
then you shouldn't really have an opinion on whether it should be banned or not surely?
what if it involved 12 hours of paedophile videos?

Other than the unrelenting killing, depressing mood and lack of positive messages, the use of the Wii control system has you acting out sawing motions and bashing of peoples heads in to the ground.

Pretty funny and well thought out, but give it to the cretins of soceity who would rush out and buy it and I do think its a step too far.

# That's the bit I heard
the Wii bit. Sounds great!

# great design work
shame they went the step (or steps) too far

# Which bit is too far?
There's no such thing as a violent video game.
(, Thu 21 Jun 2007, 20:01, archived)
# I think I should have an opinion
because in a so called "free" society, the banning of anything such as this is as bad as burning books.

# Rockstar should stick to GTA games.

# ^This
preferably on the PS2 until I can afford a PS3.

# The PS3 version looks awesome, can't imagine it downgraded to the PS2
shame Microsoft have given Take Two $50million to make 2 bonus "episodes" XBox exclusives

# GTA was good.
It went a bit down hill after that.

I'd rather see them use their vast GTA fortunes to try something new now and again.

# I must donwload a copy of the original again.
I haven't played it since I traded GTA 1 & 2 & London in with my PS1 to get cash off the PS2.

# GTA london should have been left in the abortion bucket

# yup, i'm aware...
i'm in the industry, we've been waiting for this to happen :)
Just actually waiting for the ESRB to weigh in

# you are the industry
wow, that's quite a statement ;)

noticed that, forgot that arrows drop words
damn programming

# Urgh..
if they ban books, im forming a resistance!

# They should have a special certificate for games like this.
Instead of not being allowed to sell to under 18s it should be a certificate where they're not allowed to sell to psychos.
(, Thu 21 Jun 2007, 19:53, archived)
# they do
its AO (adults only)
(, Thu 21 Jun 2007, 19:56, archived)
# Some adults are psychos.
(, Thu 21 Jun 2007, 19:56, archived)
# then you should take
a test before being allowed to buy the game.. and then they shouldn't sell it to you

I'm glad it got banned, its just brutal for the sake of it

(, Thu 21 Jun 2007, 20:00, archived)
# I don't see why that's a problem.
I disagree with stuff being banned because someone else thinks it's bad for me. I notice these people never, ever want to ban things that they think might be bad for them, only for other people. It's incredibly patronising.
(, Thu 21 Jun 2007, 20:04, archived)
# yes to a degree
but a game like this should be sold in a (for want of a better idea) porn shop, then it MIGHT limit kids actually seeing and being exposed to the content.

But by not selling this game then kids WON'T see it, because some chav will play it at somepoint in front of his kids, or will let them play it and i think that this is what they're trying to limit

(not just chavs, they were the best example i could think of)

# Intelligence shops FTW!
Selling mature content books, films and games for those who are mentally capable of handling it.
(, Thu 21 Jun 2007, 20:12, archived)
# the question is:
how do you determine that someone is mentally capable of handling something like that?

it's going to have some sort of effect somewhere on someone... and then it'll be the same old argument "the video game made me do it"

Maybe the ratings boards should be less Lords and Ladies, include some "normal" people that can weigh in.

(i'm still happy its banned btw)

# Simple spychological assessment
If people want access to nasty stuff then they will probably pay for the exam from a state registered psychiatrist/psychoanalyst.

Get a nice shiny "I am bright" card at the end of it and bobs your uncle, you can play serial killer games to your hearts content
(, Thu 21 Jun 2007, 20:20, archived)
# Maybe
people shouldn't be stupid enough to think that video games can turn someone into a fucking lunatic.
(, Thu 21 Jun 2007, 20:30, archived)
# Fair enough to restrict it
I don't agree with censorship on principal.

I definitely think there should be a 30 certificate. Give it half a year and I'll probably agree with a 35 certificate too.

# good idea
where does this leave Donkey pron then?

# I think you'll find more murders are commited by adults than children
just because you reach a certain age it doesn't mean you are mentally capable of dealing with some things that other can.
