
wash hands before handling, and wear cotton gloves if you have them. humans have lots of germs to impart upon newborns.

funny thing is when i showed my mom the pictures
her response was "it's a wild mouse! those carry so many diseases!"
"but, mom...it's so cute and it would have died!"

reminds me of the nuts cartoon by gahan wilson. 'the kid' (main character, never given a name) gets sick and hears his parents talking about germs. he imagines them as huge, slimy crawling things that talk to him and tell him they're going to kill him.
