Totally agree: Halo=hyped up crap with repetitive level design.

Bought BioShock at weekend.

Probably the shortest game I have ever played, and had quite a few bugs. I was not happy.

# finished already
how many hours?
(, Tue 28 Aug 2007, 11:16, archived)
# dunno,
lemmie work it out:

bought friday, played 2hrs, started up sat morn, played just past lunch... so, all in all I'm guessing 6hrs?

That is a rough Idae.. .I have no really understanding of time.

Oh, and I saved every little sister too.

Still... it was sort of enjoyable (I MISS SYSTEM SHOCK!)

edit: actually more like 9hrs thinking about it (maybe)

# 6 hours?! that's fucking terrible!
(, Tue 28 Aug 2007, 11:22, archived)
# if you saved every one of them
then you've missed the real ending.

(I'm 12 hours in on hard, about 10 in I thought I'd finished the game but no there's more)
(, Tue 28 Aug 2007, 11:23, archived)
# i thought by saving each one, that was meant to be much harder as you dont get as much ADAM (although you do get teh stuff int he teddy bear gifts) and thus get to see the proper ending?
I wont post what happened in it here though :D
(, Tue 28 Aug 2007, 11:29, archived)
# well, there's two endings
look at it that way :)
(, Tue 28 Aug 2007, 11:34, archived)
# so you've played it to the end, searched every room
upgraded everything, found every tape?
(, Tue 28 Aug 2007, 11:22, archived)
# managed to miss a few tapes apparently and upgrades all but two weapons...
regardless, It should never be that easy, or be that short even if I do miss a few collectables
(, Tue 28 Aug 2007, 11:26, archived)
# it all depends how battle-hardened you are
I always start games on the hardest difficulty if only so it takes me longer to complete them.

Gears Of War lasted about as long for me (and I did the whole campaign of that co-op with a mate)
(, Tue 28 Aug 2007, 11:29, archived)
# Yeah, I'm the same. Hardest difficulty off the bat.
Except for games that think "hardcore mode" means "enemies have 100x more health than normal and can kill you in 1 or 2 hits". Shitting christ that isn't fun at all :D
(, Tue 28 Aug 2007, 11:32, archived)
# ha
*starts up ninja gaiden again*
*selects hard mode*
*shits self*

Now gears of War WAS good, lasted quite a while, and hard mode was a challenge...

I just cant stand paying £40+ for a game I can complete in a day (unless its something like tekken or SF etc)

# Modern games are short. It's how it is.
A tradeoff for WOAH PARTICLE EFFECTS LOOK AT THAT WATER LOOK AT IT SHINE LOOK AT IT SHINING
(, Tue 28 Aug 2007, 11:24, archived)
# then there's games like Wario Ware Smooth Moves.
You can complete it in an hour or less, and it looks like a child drew it.

Still doesn't mean it's no fun.

Old games taking ages usually meant they were infuriatingly hard, or were usually too longwinded to keep many peoples attention.
(, Tue 28 Aug 2007, 11:25, archived)
# Probably.
Maybe I'm just bitter at how long it took me to complete FEAR Extraction Point and Condemned recently.
(, Tue 28 Aug 2007, 11:33, archived)
# I'm still playing Manic Miner after 25 years.
I finished it properly for the first time earlier this year.

It's Minish Cap that's had me hooked solid for the last few weeks. I'm nearly done, not because it's short but because it's hugely addictive.
