But he's hardly using any colour here.
I've done a few vectors now and not had to use more than 256 colours. I dont know what he's using for this but the principles are the same.
Yes but I see your point, when using gradients you shouldn't save as a gif.

aslong as you can produce your artistic licence, its just in general vectors have crisp edges
