Personality substitute?I usually find overtly tattooed/pierced people have nothing to say, so become a conversation piece.

i don't believe i'm 'overly' anything.i have tattoos, yeah, but they're all hidden under average clothing and are rarely seen by anyone.
and, apart from a couple of ear piercings, this is the only piercing i have, and i got it because i liked the idea. Again, it's nearly always hidden under sleeves and rarely shown off in general life.
perhaps you have been unfortunate enough to only meet very narcissistic tattooed/pierced people. But you probably know many tattooed/pierced people who never show them off at all.
