If it was two children needing a liver, I agree the decision would be harder, because with 1 child and a 40 yr old alcy then its a no-contest (although I assume we all agree it shouldn't be a 'contest' in the first place).

I say get them to fight it out. I mean, the alcy will have the weight behind his punches, but balance will be an issue.

Where do you draw the line?

Smokers and drinkers are an easy target.
People who eat shit food?
People who play sport or exercise?
Stupid people who do stupid things?

You make a case that just about everyone has done something that makes them 'unentitled' to treatment.

(On a serious note though, yes I agree, entitlement cannot be judged on how 'bad' you treated yourself. If we all lived life thinking that then there would be no life to live, however someone like best who KNEW what happens, well, I can't have much sympathy for him I am afraid').
