# I remember that! We were at Oldham.
And weirdly, no phone signal when standing right next to it, so WTF is it doing!?

# There's one o' them near me in Cambridgeshire.

I'm pretty sure it's a telecoms base station of some kind, maybe for only one phone network or for satellite connections (international calls etc).

That reminds me though, has anyone heard wireless power may be possible in the near future?

# Oh, for sure.
There was a sign at the base (there was a big fence around it with small shed type structures and substations) saying it was owned by Orange / hutchinson Telecom.

It's some sort of uplink tower, judging by the vertical antennae and satellite antennae on it... and on a big fecking hill in the middle of nowhere would be a good place for it...

# There's one of those on a hill next to the M62 where it goes over the Pennines.
Aged five or so, I was more scared of it than of anything else in the world, I used to have to hide under my coat for about five miles whenever we went past it. No idea why, very odd.

There's a wind turbine in Haworth that I fear as well. It's about a hundred metres tall.
