i missed a lot of his posts except to see them on the friends' page and the popular page. my own balloon cats were inspired by a cartoonist whose name i can't recall (i was thinking sam gross, but i know it's not him).

from what i recall, the meme has oft been used. i know gahan wilson has a balloon-head cartoon or two, maybe chas addams as well. and a couple of new yorker cartoonists have used it - time to break out my books.
