they pretty much had to change their name from 'dairy queen' to 'dq' after the government discovered there was not enough dairy in the frozen petroleum products they were selling.

# I'm not a big fan of dairy products anyway.
A bit of milk in my coffee is about as much as I really go for.

# it is disgusting.
i worked at one briefly in university. the midget manager tried to get me to clean up the women's washroom after close one night when the toilet overflowed. three inches of shitwater on the floor and it still smelled better than the kitchen, but i refused to clean it.

i did steal a lot from them, though.
(, Sun 17 Feb 2008, 6:46, archived)
# Oh dear lord.
I could never eat there, never work there, definitely never live there.

Steal money?
(, Sun 17 Feb 2008, 6:47, archived)
# not cash, mostly vegetables and the odd utensil.
i also used to 'steal' the dough leftover at the end of the night. me and my housemates would load it into a big three-man slingshot we'd made and fire it around the neighbourhood.

edit: also beer. twits didn't put a gauge on the kegs when they installed the draught lines, so all the staff would drink for free.
(, Sun 17 Feb 2008, 6:50, archived)
# Vegetables?
Wouldn't their produce be terrible? Also, dough slingshot sounds fun.

hahah

Edit: Also: I am going to bed now. Goodnight. :]

# some of it was good.
the mushrooms were good, so were the onions, dried oregano, tomato puree, canned chick peas and kidney beans (for the salad bar) - i think there were a few other decent things too. the cheese was awful, though, and so was the bread.

we had a dick for a neighbour and we shot dough on his roof a few times. the crows would fly in from all over and sit on his roof and shriek when we did that, pecking at the dough and causing him to have fits. that was hilarious.

edit: 'night, young miss. see you anon.

As had others in comments as he posted more of them.

# ah, thanks.
i missed a lot of his posts except to see them on the friends' page and the popular page. my own balloon cats were inspired by a cartoonist whose name i can't recall (i was thinking sam gross, but i know it's not him).

# If the name bubbles up, I'll add a riff in their idiom in the park to note it.
By the balloon stand, as ride name, or something like that.

# super!
from what i recall, the meme has oft been used. i know gahan wilson has a balloon-head cartoon or two, maybe chas addams as well. and a couple of new yorker cartoonists have used it - time to break out my books.
