# careful what you say about ever-extending

Just realised that's been archived into perpetuity.
It's nice though.

# I've been thinking about that
contributed once or twice, then lost the thread, that's why I feel the need to spam this three or four times over 24 hours, get it over with. I wouldn't bother, as the site will take care of itself, but it seems popular

# oh, Fnordo
did you see the discussion of your name in that thread, it spilled over, and has inspired many people to pick up a book. Good work.

# it's a good idea.
There will be a lot of interesting backstories like sand goblins, and some you've always wondered but never dared ask, like shaolin bukakke ;) Actually he's explained his once.
You've got mine, basically I had used Fnord when I got so fed up trying to sign up with a username for something using a tv remote control and an onscreen keyboard but this thing already had millions of internet accounts so every name i came up with was taken until I tried Fnord.
I used it ever since.
The Professorship came here www.b3ta.com/board/3/8/6/4/6/8 and I liked it so much the whim still hasn't escaped me.
This current name of course is just an experiment with making images in the username.

# note how we've more than doubled the number of posts
in the last 4 months
It is of course a very apt name for me and not just some random moniker i picked... :)

# I'd like to have it in your own words
but you can wait for that I suppose. Today has tought me to know people well, because a change in username changes everthing in the spaz, so I have to keep current to know what's gone on in the past (ouch)

# and...
you should have seen how many 100% kittens there were at one time today (or you may have been one of them (ouch x 2)

.. cuz I live in Oz and miss all goodies on board :-(

# i like the increased kittenage
It was long long ago before Cal changed the board (been a few changes since) you could all simultaneously have exactly the same name and so I suggested for one day everyone change their name to the same username (this was before we had had any 'name change days')
I envisioned a total blanket set of Fnords or something else and every message, every frontpage would all look like this one person gone hyper schitzo and there's be ages and pages of conversations all with the same username on every message.
The next day when ppl changed back you'd have been able to go and see exactly what was going on, but for that day, even for a few hours it would have been delightful chaos.

Not enough people shared my dream though, but I did get lots of ppl to change their name to celebrate the release of Blode 4. This was when apostophes and spaces would mess up the usernames though and lots of people got stranded (including me for a month).

# Yeah
I made Ann Onnymouse and started posting a lot more than I had been and I was getting loads of frontpages. Never got my name sorted though until pep came along one day.

# I found 'fnord'
in the makefile for netatalk-1.6.0 the other week, and thought that's where you got it from!

Code snippet:

if (dlsym (self,"fnord")) status = $lt_dlno_uscore;

# Where's the thread?
I was 14, I needed a user name. I was slightly drunk, needed a name in counter-strike, chose EverStoned. Started coding, photoshopping, it stuck.

Tada.
