did you do these from a single image and play about with their levels?

everything i try that it tells me not enough dynamic range.

I saved 3 versions of the pic as tif's.
#1 with +3 in exposure, #2 was just the original & #3 with -3 in exposure. (using the exposure function in photoshop)
Then imported them into photomatix and played around with them.
