alt is what's supposed to be displayed when an image can't load. Only IE uses alt in a popup box though.

it's been a while since I tried to write anything in HTML type stuff. Or any other markup system.

In fact, it was so long ago that I, in my youthful enthusiasm, referred to it AWLAYS as HoTMetaL instead of HTML.
