but FL was far more open, plus there are a lot of good mods out there, like Discovery or Crossfire.
edit: yeah, cut engines :D there was a neat trick there, hold down the thruster key, cut engines, release ya thrust key, turn the ship, and enemies wont follow you as you drift at almost top booster speed

Sadly as with all MMOs it was just point and click combat system, that really really pissed me off.

The only only good one ever created was Monster Hunter, but it didn't really count because it wasn't exactly MASSIVELY multiplayer, it just had loads of quests and items and stuff you couldn't get if you played the offline game.
Fucking awesome though, there's nothing like smashing a massive hammer into a dragon's face and ACTUALLY DOING IT instead of just pointing and clicking. And having to avoid being killed constantly made it feel great.

Played the original on the PS2, most of a korean version of MHG, and about half of the offline of the japanese version of MH2. But without knowing what you are really doing or online play with friends it's not the same.
I've always been a bit suspcious of the PSP version as there were barely enough buttons on the PS2 versions.

but they've crammed more stuff in it.
There's also another version on the PSP out called Monster Hunter Feedom 2 G - only out in Japan at the mo and was apparently responcible for the productivety of Japan to drop by a good few % on it's release day.
Some peeps are working on an English patch, so I'll keep a gander.

But I imagine I'd just not do anything for about four months if I had Monster Hunter again.
I was a legend amongst hammer users.

one thing that bugs me is that you can't run out to the field unless you're doing a quest....got lots of goods I need to farm and I have to do quests at the same time.

But it depends on what stuff you want as sometimes its only available on hard quests.
I remember mining or trying to get rarer monster parts used to be bloody frustrating at times, and usually fairly boring as it meant doing the same quest again and again and again.
