# aye but you lads are guilty of things like 'shall we just sit off for a minute?
'i were walking down the road the other day' and yorkshire and the last two letters of 'the'

# Quite honestly I love it
I'm a Londoner but I love the different way people speak from all around the British Isles.
Especially northerners.
I deal a lot with an elderly Yorkshireman and I could listen to him all day long with his "Thees and thous".

# the whole think about Yorkshire
and saying 't' instead of 'the is a myth perpetuated by Southerners and usually is accompanied by tales of whippets and flat caps.

I have no comprehension of your first sentence. I have never heard that uttered or seen it written before in my life.

Everybody goes "down the road" and it's Cumbrians and north Lancastrians who might be guilty of saying 'were' as a prefix. Certainly not here in Manchester.

# C'mon!
The people I deal with from Yorkshire do the "t" thing all the time although they are generally the older generation (50 plus). The younger ones don't seem to do it as much.

The "give it ooosss" thing I've not heard in Manchester but I have in the North East and Yorkshire and even in parts of Nottingham.

# I'm aloof from all of this because
despite being from the slums of Salford I have managed to grow up having good diction, elocution and grammar skills.
I cower whenever I see Coronation Street. I'm glad I did not end up like that.

# Because of what I do I deal with all sorts from the UK every day
From those who buy Heinz Baked Beans to those who want truffles from Fortnum and Mason.
Their money (and accents) is all good to me :)

# its a scouse thing i think.
as i understand it it means "sit off to one side" and i live in sheffield, they definatly drop the "he" less so in the south of the county but it is definatly off
