signs and the village are very well acted. mel gibson has never been better than signs and i savoured ever atmospheric minute of the village.
lady in the water, conversely, is easily one of the five worst films i have ever seen.

the ending was very good but it doesn't do anyone justice to say the ending is everything. especially as that writes off the fantastic hammer sequence

That's not true of all things, M Shamamalyanamamam films could just be dull sub standard horror films without the endings. However Oldboy does not make any sense without the ending, the whole thing leads purely to the ending and the reason he was imprisoned.
