I really can't be bothered to load em all into windows, type a-z 1-9 etc, just to find out they're pants! (not again anyways)

you are right that a font handler is better but if you pick a font, right click and click properties. Then 'opens with' and choose font viewer then the association is set. ( next time you click ( or double click ) a font file in any folder it will show in font viewer regardless of it being installed.
