I've been away for a bit and then doing lots of lurking. I shouldn't be on now, either, I should be cooking dinner and applying for jobs. But the bandwagon called.

I've been off for a while writing, but it's so nearly finished now - just waiting for the proof readers and then publish.
Woo!

Woo!

I've been messing around giving loads of talks on half-finished work, swearing at collaborators, swearing while collaborators take three week holidays in the middle of finishing the paper, then getting all despondant and doing something else. Which means I now have two papers pretty much finished just in time for the job season, so it may all have worked out nicely.

Just had two accepted in the last week and one rejected, but I'm going to argue that as it's clear the numpty didn't understand the paper...
I also got my first refereeing assignment and I had to reject the paper as it was a pile of guff.
Oh yay, academia.
At least the book's not chemistry, anyway.

I delayed too much on one because they were attacking my friends, then kept telling another journal that I was away from the office for weeks and had to decline. Which was true. They just have a habit of sending me stuff to referee just before I go away.
Edit: Congrats on the papers, by the way. I'm lucky if I manage one paper a year, let alone three a week...
