It probably was quite funny, the two of them usually are.However, you can't deny that if you were a 78 year old man, and a couple of youngsters rang you up and started guffawing down the phone about having shagged your granddaughter and suggesting you would kill yourself over it, I think you'd have the right to be offended.
It's like the difference between laughing at the jokes on Sikipedia, and reading them out to your dear old nan.
