I remember being told in ceramics class as a kidthat if I wanted to serve food in one of my bowls I couldn't use a red glaze.
The red glaze had arsenic in it. Apparently there are no red-glazed bowls in the world, or in the history of mankind. Maybe painted, but not glazed.
