I'm a busdriver for a living and the majority of near-misses involving motorists cutting up the bus I'm driving is down to idiots who think they can drive at high speeds and obviously can't. 120mph on a motorway is dangerous at anytime of the day - are you absolutely sure that your tyre isn't going to explode, perhaps after hitting a stone or piece of junk you find of all roads? It's really not necessary if you want to speed go to a circuit.

but speed on the motorway for me has nothing to do with thrills, certainly not at my age. I just hate travelling and the sooner I can get anywhere the better.
I've driven the Nürburgring a few times and was a grass track racer in my youth and now have my advanced license.
I'm not advocating idiocy, just that I think speed restrictions should be road specific for the circumstances on that road rather than just being blanket national restrictions.
Just my opinion of course.

if you can prove you can handle driving at speed and are fully aware of the hazards of speeding then perhaps you should have a higher National Speed limit for those drivers - however what I have learnt is that "Monkey See, Monkey Do" and Top Gear does a lot of Monkeying about.
