I don't usually use Vista. Ubuntu is wot I be's usually use.
EDIT: Or my old laptop. Or at least, I used to use my old pooter until I pulled the screen of it and stamped on it and tasted the liquid crystals.

Compared to XP? Of course, just as XP is to 98.
But if the resources are required, they're there. If nothing wants them, Vista will use them for itself.

I say leave it for a few weeks
then just go up to a higher resolution
if your monitor doesn't support a higher resolution, get one that does
when you reach the maximum possible resolution of your hardware, just add another monitor
