30 year old animatronics beat state-of-the art CGI

EVERYTIME!

# ^this
this this this.

for large groups of things doing stuff and dying (a-la LOTR) CGI is very good - for anything else it's poor (unless the whole thing is CGI).

Perhaps actors act better with puppets.

# can you imagine the Dark Crystal done in CGI
and how much poorer it would be for it..

Computer graphics have no soul

# thes the sadest idea I think I've ever heard.

# SO now Yoda is a puppet?!
The dark side is indeed strong.

# no - now Yoda is a collection of pixels it's impossible to care about in the slightest
... also - he jumps about too much.

Previously he was some sort of injected foam puppet and I cried when he died.

# the thing that fucks it all up with the CGI yoda jumping about
is its very much like Kermit fighting in the Muppets Treasure Island.

# i wish Lucas had just invested his money in progressing puppetry to a whole new level
instead of wasting it on computer generated shite, i might have even felt for Jar-Jar...

oh wait, that's still pushing it

# I wish Lucas had given up film-making after Star Wars....
"WHY DO YOU KEEP HURTING US GEORGE??" : apparently shouted out at the end of the Indy4 premier at Cannes at which Sir Lucas was in attendance :-).

# ha ha!
i like the phrase
"Indy in a Refridgerator"
to describe a series steered down the pan by its own creators..

# It was the fact that even Spielberg went on about how
it wasn't going to use much CGI and would be "back to classic" film-making. And then it was full of bad bad bad CGI! And the ending!? And And.... Well..... don't get me started :-).
