# It is duct tape
or gaffer tape. Duck is a brand.

# gaffa or gaffer?
I had the idea that it was named after the film crew member, who would always have it handy for its incredible ability to bodge repairs behind the scenes as a moment's notice...

What an etymological thread this is.

# I've always said gaffa
but it is gaffer tape as in the stuff the gaffer uses in film sets to tape down the cables. No self respecting mobile DJ of the 80's would be without it ;)

# I have neither seen it used on ducts nor ducks
but I know which I would prefer if my occurals* were given the option.
