have this this what I be doing
still adding detail, but I'm getting impatient so thought I'd post the drawing sans technical details.
It part of a device that sits on a site in aLondon where the tube surfaces briefly. It's an entirely pneumatic system that passively harvest the air from trains entering the tunnel.
It's the beggining of the end for stage 1 of my architecture project I'm doing where I'm proposing a constellation of deployable urban devices to harvest tiny amounts of spare energy leaked from the flux of underground systems (sewers, train lines etc)
Stage 2 is to use the strategies developed in some kind of building scenario. No idea for that yet. :/

you can harvest my wasted energies
design a cuff that sits next to the computer that collects kinetic energy.. I think I could generate enough power for a few lightbulbs of an evening.

I made a touchpad which converts heat energy (from the friction) to electrical to help my laptop run faster.
Does that count?

That doesn't make sense to me.
More electricity = somehow my laptop is processing quicker.

Like screen brightness and stuff.
A week's touchpad use = about 2 and a quater hours.

I dunno..
did you include an abacus or a rudimentary calculator in your designs?

I'm struggling to understand this.
Sorry, if it's any consolation, i still have your picture as my wallpaper.

fair enough
it does come along with many other drawings explaining it, but they're not finished yet. It's just a close up detail of the pneumatic force multipliers and air muscle system.
blah blah etc

I'm sure there are ways to harvest flatulence. No one seems to have conquered this yet.

Impressive stuff
I got my Diploma last year. Your stuff looks much more impressive than mine. I was at ECA. Good luck with it all.

I believe so. I'm glad I got out when I did, I reckon ECA will be
Edinburgh Uni's Art Dept soon. When do you finish? I can't get a job so I'm jetting of on some adventures soon.

unfortunately this year :(
looks like the worst time to enter. I may have a job though. I got lucky last summer and got on to a a pfi school team from day 1 through to planning app. (it was a busy summer!). It's moving to site fairly soon, so I might be able to come on given my experience in the early stages. But I'm not holding my breath. Not a nice time is it?

Whoa
that's interesting. I like the pics and I think the idea of using that 'hidden' energy is fantastic.
It was only recently I saw those huge wind-animated sculptures, can't remember the guy's name but you probably know who I mean. Those are awesome for the same reason.

Ace
I've been thinking of designing something for flippy or slidy phones, every time you open or close it, it uses the movement to generate power and charges the battery slightly. You could just turn it off and sit there opening and closing it for an hour if you desperately need to call someone and have no charger.
