this strange phenomenon also applies to boxes of Jaffacakes, Celebrations, and various other boxed delights.
I think it's a snack food conspiracy.

But interestingly not in boxes of chocolate when owned by grannies.
They're still there from 1978 and have turned from dark to white chocolate.
