I just regard it as a sequel to Twin Peaks, it makes a lot more sense that way

but it is typical Wes Anderson. It's not really about anything when you get down to it, and I can totally understand why people wouldnt like it.

but, in the same way as with Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre, I didn't really get it until the second time I saw it, by which point it had apparently morphed from a slightly disappointing, directionless slog to a bloody hilarious instant favourite.
I don't know if this is something in the makeup of those films or my brain, but I like it.

The Royal Tennenbaums was exactly the same. First time I saw that I thought, what the fuck is this? It isn't about anything and fuck all is happening. Then I watched it again and thoughgt, Oh, there is nothing happening and it isn't about anything. And now i love it :D

But I can't think of a single person I know I could recommend it to.
Similarly, I just don't get why people aren't blown away by 'Magnolia'. The trailer for that alone is a masterpiece, but if it doesn't make you feel you have to watch the film, then don't.
