Also the problem with Doctor Who's production isn't the props it's the fact they light everything far too brightly! I swear there's no shadow or dark or even half decent camera angles in that show.

It makes it look like an old sitcom rather than sci-fi.

**EDIT I totally agree about the lighting thing there is no sense of mood or drama even the 3D animation is all very toonish like the Sliverin (or whatever they were called). I know it's suppose to be a kids show, but the original Dr Who was pretty scary in it's day and it never did me any har... HE COMES... ZALGO!

# Yet conversely the original doctor who was also more light and nonchalent.
Whereas the script and David Tennant's face seems to largely just switch between 'hyperactive and irreverent' and 'moody and hurting'.

With all the amounts of set dressing they do sometimes you'd think they'd light it well though, tshh! Also what were those baked potato people about?

# Sontarans?
They were creatures from the original doctor who too
(, Tue 7 Apr 2009, 13:05, archived)
# Did they wear the ridiculous 'for mash get smash' helmets in the original too?
(, Tue 7 Apr 2009, 13:08, archived)
# The original ones were pretty scary
but as you say they have swopped the moody lighting of the original for moody scripting and it doesn't work. So the Sontarans just look pathetic thesedays.
