the licker effects are pretty cool, and it's a sweet cast.
Haven't seen the sequels though.. Paul Anderson has a pretty terrible reputation.
Mortal Kombat and AVP were absolute mince.

The Roger Avary Silent Hill movie was lots of fun, too.

True, there was a fair bit of studio interference (mainly writing in the male characters), but I thought he did a good job with the back story..
