I got a Mac Pro, but I use it for work as well as play

I wouldn't recommend a Windows user to switch, unless they have specific reason.

... I was seriously thinking about it, but the desktop I could build for the price of a mac book would be an affront to God.

Yea you get a lot more for your cash,

But on the other side I i think an expensive mac will last 3 times as long as a cheap PC, so maybe it all evens out. Horses for courses innit :)

this is true

I've seen people spend buttons on a laptop which is a) already years out of date as soon as you buy it (mmmm - celeron) and b) lasts 10 months and starts to fall apart.

I'm supposed to be taking a Dell SX280

and turning it into a Lunix based UPnP media server... just for the geek of it really, but I could do with one.

Having used Macs for so long anything beyond changing the memory of sticking a new HD in is a mystery to me. But good luck with that!
