didn't think much of it actually. WTF is the kid doing just killing the FBI agents, there's no remorse and very flimsy motive.
it's about as good as an episode of buffy.

I really like the manga, the motive is and always has been a flimsy cover-up for his want for power, really, but that's not the point of the story.
I think lots of it is really funny, I love the artwork and the 'battle of wits' between L and Kira is quite enjoyable.
At least, in the manga. In the films they ruined it.

"YES, I SHALL MAKE HIM MEET WITH ME AND KNOW MY NAME SO THEREFORE IF I DIE IT MUST BE HIM!"
Or alternatively you just just lock him in a cell for 2 weeks with no posessions, notice no-one is dying, search his house and find a book with everyone who died written in it. That's how you do real police work.

Criminals stopped dying for two weeks, then started again.
And the book was concealed in a secret compartment in his desk that would burst into flame if forced into.

This is the FBI for god's sake, I think they can handle some twatty schoolkid putting a book in a secret drawer.
Either way if the book set fire then job done, they then just arrest him for explosive booby trapping, destroying probable evidence, interfering with an investigation etc.
