It's better than Hitchens's attempt at the same topic.
Which isn't saying much.

I have read Dawkins in the past,
and enjoyed him a lot. But it seemed too preachy to me, which may well be missing the point.

It is good.
Kinda preachy and value laden, personally I'd prefer just the facts, but still very worthwhile. What I like most is his sense of wonder at the natural world: "Here's how it all works and isn't it awesome!"

As a scientific writer,
he is probably the best in the world in my opinion. However, I really didn't like The God Delusion. He is trying to use science to explain something that I don't think is possible. And before you accuse me of it, I am not a creationist, and I don't believe everything the bible says :)

it is very good
he himself is a little odd, but his clarity of thought is amazing

He is rubbish.
I am no short Earther, but 'You are all loonies' is no argument - the man is a fundamentalist cock.

His argument as well is to very much
miss the distinction between Faith/Spiritualism and Religion.

Indeed.
He argues against religion in ways which also oppose atheism at times as well, which would be fine if he was proclaiming agnosticism, but he's not, he's just a prick going 'SCIENCE, MOTHERFUCKERS!; without really getting it.
It's like a n00b b3ta tr0ll

And the general attitude that to be a scientist
and "religious" is wholly incompatible. I was brought up in the Catholic Church my whole life and still consider myself to be a Catholic. My mother, who brought me up in said faith, has a First in Molecular Biology. Sounds like a scientist to me....

This is not what product placement means.
Also, Dawkins is an unutterable penis.
